It still baffles me that we live in a world where disabled parents are so frowned upon! In fact, my husband and I were told BY A DOCTOR, no less, that it was selfish of us to become parents. Why, you ask? This particular MD crossed the line from offering medical advice to offering their very unsolicited opinion.
I can’t remember the number of times that someone has heard that I’m a stay at home mother and responded with something like, “Oh that’s wonderful! I didn’t have the luxury of staying home when I was working.” First off, there are definitely benefits of getting to stay home with my child. I see all of the beautiful moments and get to watch her grow and develop first hand. It’s the best!
