Base patterns are the main design used for the foundation of the blanket. Listed, are all the base patterns available. Basic Patterns are the most popular designs that I regularly make for blankets. They work well with any size and are simple to add the edging of your choice (see button at the bottom of this page). In addition, I have listed Elaborate Patterns which generally require more effort and/or have notes regarding which sizes and edgings they work best with. The Traditional Round base pattern is a circular pattern that reminds us of past generations with its classy simplicity! Depending on the size chosen, it's a good pattern for not only blankets but rugs and play mats as well. Plus, it is a great choice for all self-striping and color-changing yarns!

Classic Granny Square
The Classic Granny Square base pattern is one of the most popular within the world of crochet because it allows for a traditional or modern look depending on the particular color use - meaning it is a great option for gifts due to its fabulously generic adaptability!

V-Stitch Granny Square
The V-Stitch Granny Square offers great airflow with its open v-stitches throughout, meaning you can cuddle up without overheating. Plus, this design works from the middle, outwards so it makes a great pattern for self-striping and color-changing yarns!

The Connected Patches base pattern has all the wonderful simplicity of the Classic Granny Square in addition to the traditional patchwork quilt look. Each small patch is stitched together to create a blanket with variety and pop!
