An honest response of gratitude to everyone who has read, responded, and supported my writing.
This morning, I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who responded honestly to my latest post; I received several comments on Facebook with suggestions, advice, and full support. Knowing that you cared enough, to not only read my article but to also leave your own words in reply, genuinely made its mark. I am so grateful for every single one of you in my life!
Likewise, I want to thank my Parish for support shown on their behalf. Yesterday, I received a beautiful bouquet of flowers, brought to my door by a kind Parishioner, “just because”. This gesture meant a lot to me and I think it means a lot to others.
A wonderful thing about our church is that they offer this seemingly small gift to other people who are sick, suffering, or otherwise deserving. Perhaps deserving is not the correct word, but I have found that this simple gift of flowers delivered to your door can in fact be a gift of a large magnitude.
For while things such as illness can leave us feeling quite lonely in our suffering, a personal touch like flowers can mean the difference in how we respond to the events of life. Just knowing that someone cares enough to go out of their way, to show us compassion during our time of need, can give us hope. This hope is a powerful thing.
Hope can lead us to keep fighting when we feel like giving up. Hope can similarly guide us into new ventures with an optimistic vision of our futures. Hope can even show us the good in humanity. Hope defines the way that we perceive our circumstances. Caring people are not always obvious in their efforts to show compassion; however, a homemade gift or small token can deeply convey their intended kindness. This charity can then morph into a sort of guiding light that shows us the Presence of God in others. So thank you all for your love, support, and kindness. You are all wonderful visions of what God looks like when working through others and I cannot properly convey how strong this opportunity is to witness. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for serving as bright lights of true compassion.
